Cultural appropriation occurs when a dominant culture adopts elements of a marginalized culture without proper acknowledgment or respect. In fashion, this can occur when designers or brands use traditional or sacred symbols, patterns, or dress from other cultures without permission or understanding of their cultural significance. This can lead to the erasure of cultural identity and perpetuation of harmful stereotypes.
