In addition to their mass, black holes are also very compact. This means that their mass is concentrated in a very small space. This makes the gravitational field around a black hole even stronger.
The combination of mass and compactness makes black holes incredibly powerful gravitational objects. Their gravity is so strong that it can bend spacetime, and it can even trap light. This is why black holes are called “black” holes.
