In a Sikh gurdwara, women are expected to dress modestly as a sign of respect for the Sikh faith and culture. The traditional dress for women in a gurdwara is salwar kameez or a long skirt and blouse, but other modest clothing is also acceptable.
Women are also required to cover their heads with a scarf or other head covering while inside the gurdwara. Many gurdwaras provide head coverings for visitors who do not have one.
