The choice of the type of dog you prefer is entirely up to you and your personal preferences.
However, when it comes to emotional support, it’s important to remember that it’s a mutually beneficial relationship. While the dog provides support to you, it is equally important for you to provide care and support to the dog. The bond between you and the dog will thrive when both parties rely on each other.
May I suggest visiting your local animal shelter or Humane Society and considering adopting an older dog that has been waiting for a home for a long time? These dogs often have a calmer demeanor and are simply looking for someone who will show kindness to them. In return, they will offer unwavering loyalty and love that you cannot even imagine.
Unfortunately, there are numerous dogs that are abandoned simply because they have reached old age. It deeply saddens me that someone could discard a creature that has a limited lifespan on this Earth after spending a significant portion of their life together with devotion and trust.
This disregard for life and lack of compassion partially explains why some individuals, particularly youth, engage in senseless acts of violence towards strangers. If a family fails to understand and teach trust and devotion on a small scale, it is likely to manifest on a larger scale.
I wholeheartedly support the Adopt Frosted Faces movement, which aims to give older dogs a chance at a loving home and a dignified life.
