It took over a year for my cat to return. He had reached the age of around 15 years when he went missing. Initially, my mom believed that he had passed away due to old age, possibly somewhere outside. However, a year later, I spotted him a few blocks away. Despite his small size from a distance, I instantly recognized him. After all, we had spent 15 years together. I called out his name, and I saw him turn his head towards me. We both started running towards each other, creating a heartwarming reunion scene straight out of a movie.

He appeared thin and unkempt, his once soft fur now sticky, as if covered in spiderwebs. He clung onto me tightly as I held him in my arms. Later on, I discovered that a lady in that area had been leaving dry food for stray cats, and it seemed my cat had become one of the beneficiaries.

It became clear that he had run away due to my mom rescuing an abused dog. To ensure the dog’s safety, half of the house was off-limits to the cat during that time.

Nevertheless, we were overjoyed to have him back, and we continued to live together happily until he reached the impressive age of around 20 years old
