It’s a mixed answer.
On one hand, there is a cloud-based spreadsheet developed by Gigasheet that can support up to 1 billion rows, which is 1,000x more scalable than Excel and Google Sheets. Moreover, its architecture is horizontally scalable, meaning more compute and storage resources can be added to expand further.
On the other hand, there is no desktop spreadsheet software package that can allow for an unlimited number of rows. Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets have fixed limits on the number of rows, columns, or cells that they support. Excel has a maximum row limit of 1,048,576, while columns are limited to 16,384. Google Sheets’ limit is fixed at 10 million cells, which is much less than Excel. While the cloud-based Gigasheet platform can theoretically scale beyond these limits, its practical application may vary depending on individual circumstances.
