Sound travels faster in warmer air than in colder air. This is because the molecules in warmer air are moving faster, which makes it easier for sound waves to travel through. The speed of sound in air increases by about 0.67 meters per second for every degree Celsius increase in temperature.
For example, the speed of sound in air at 20 degrees Celsius is about 343 meters per second. At 30 degrees Celsius, the speed of sound is about 350 meters per second.
The speed of sound also depends on the humidity of the air. Humid air is denser than dry air, which makes it harder for sound waves to travel through. The speed of sound in humid air is about 10% slower than the speed of sound in dry air.
The speed of sound in other mediums, such as water and solids, also varies with temperature. In general, sound travels faster in warmer mediums than in colder mediums.
