It is highly unlikely. We have observed in dogs, our most diverse domestic species, that there are inherent biological constraints on size. Dogs weighing over 100 lbs currently have an average lifespan of 6-9 years, whereas average-sized dogs typically live 10-13 years. Likewise, although smaller dogs tend to have longer lifespans, this trend diminishes significantly when we go below 5 lbs. Extremely small dogs face challenges in reproduction and experience high rates of infant mortality. Their tiny bodies, weighing as little as 2 oz, struggle to perform vital functions such as regulating blood sugar levels and maintaining proper internal temperature. Therefore, reaching unprecedented sizes in domestic animals while maintaining optimal health and functionality seems highly unlikely.
