I’m not entirely certain, but it seems unlikely that ants can develop immunity to Terro. Terro products contain borax, and boric acid is a refined form of borax. Borax acts by disrupting the insects’ digestive system and ultimately causing their demise. It’s similar to a person encountering lava, where there is no way to develop immunity. This could indicate that ants cannot develop immunity to borax.
However, it’s important to note that borax is alkaline, not acidic, with a pH of 9.5. (Lower pH values indicate higher acidity, while higher pH values indicate alkalinity. For reference, urine has a pH of 6, water has a pH of 7, and bleach has a pH of 13.) This alkaline nature might raise the possibility of ants potentially developing immunity, but I cannot be entirely certain.
