Several years ago, I repurposed a straw bale in my shed as an archery target. Little did I know that this bale would become more than just a target. One day, as I opened the shed door, I discovered a cavity nestled within the bale, and inside were several incredibly cute baby squirrels. In that moment, I decided to let them be, closing the door slowly so as not to disturb their newfound home.

From that day forward, I developed a special bond with these adorable creatures. Every day, I would roll peanuts under the door, providing them with nourishment throughout the summer. As time passed, the baby squirrels grew up and eventually left the shed, but the connection remained.

Now, after two years have gone by, I still have one squirrel residing in my shed. And you know what? That’s perfectly fine with me. It’s become a comforting presence, a reminder of the unique bond we shared. I cherish the memories and the ongoing companionship with this squirrel, creating a special connection in my Canadian abode.
