There is no clear consensus on whether atheists are more likely to be involved in scientific or intellectual pursuits. Some studies have shown that atheists are more likely to hold science-related jobs, while others have found no such correlation. It is possible that there is a relationship between atheism and intellectualism, but it is also possible that the correlation is due to other factors, such as education level or socioeconomic status.

Here are some studies that have looked at the relationship between atheism and intellectualism:

    • A 2012 study by the Pew Research Center found that atheists were more likely than the general public to say that science is very important in their lives (72% vs. 58%). They were also more likely to say that they have a lot of confidence in scientists to make decisions about important issues (71% vs. 57%).
    • A 2014 study by the University of Minnesota found that atheists were more likely than the general public to hold science-related jobs (27% vs. 17%). They were also more likely to have a bachelor’s degree or higher (57% vs. 39%).
    • A 2016 study by the University of Oxford found no correlation between atheism and intellectualism. The study looked at data from over 10,000 people and found that atheists were no more likely than the general public to score high on a test of general knowledge.

It is important to note that these studies are just a small sample of the research that has been done on this topic. More research is needed to determine whether there is a clear link between atheism and intellectualism.
