I was about twenty years old when their first album was released. I was also using a lot of a certain herb at the time. I thoroughly enjoyed it and saw them at the Fillmore East back then. When their second album came out, I felt that they had taken all the excesses form the first and expanded upon them. Since then I have enjoyed some of the musicianship, especially Jimmy Page but I haven’t been a fan of Robert Plant’s howling. In addition the songs generally don’t do much for me and while I enjoy the music of “Stairway to Heaven,” I have no idea what the lyrics are about.
