Indeed, I have a corn snake in my science class where I teach, and I’ve had the opportunity to hold it on a few occasions. Throughout the experience, the snake remained quite calm and indifferent, as if it didn’t particularly care one way or the other. It’s a striking contrast to my dog, who becomes incredibly excited even at the slightest interaction or attempt to hold her.

The science teacher provided me with one important rule when handling the snake: never place it down anywhere other than its terrarium. Apparently, corn snakes can be quite fast when they want to be. This advice was helpful because the snake was so relaxed that I wasn’t certain if it could move swiftly at all. The science teacher mentioned that if the snake were to escape and find its way into the grass outside, it would be nearly impossible to catch.

But are all snakes highly dangerous? The answer is no.
