Cats, oh cats. We have a love-hate relationship with them. But since we love them, they usually remain safe around us.

However, their behavior can vary greatly. It’s often said that any answer about cats should start with “it depends,” and that holds true, especially when they’re displeased.

Let’s talk about our three cats in the order they joined our household.

First, we have Blaise, a hoity-toity tortie weighing in at 10 pounds. She’s beautiful but can be quite moody. Fortunately, she isn’t mad at us too often as we try our best to fulfill her desires. However, the other day, we had to administer flea medication, which she absolutely despises. During that time, she tries to avoid us at all costs. Initially, she hides under a table, and when she reluctantly approaches us, she skillfully slides away from our touch, as if limboing under our hand. But eventually, she forgets her grudge, and when we scratch her back, all is forgiven.

Next is Emma, the youngest member of our cat crew. Just like Blaise, she dislikes flea medication, but what really gets her mad is when we trim her claws. She voices her complaints loudly, shouting at us while we carefully clip. Once we’re finished, she immediately runs off, but surprisingly, within a couple of minutes, she lets us pet her again. She may get angry, but she forgives us quickly.

And lastly, there’s our newest addition, Sam. He’s typically calm and laid-back. However, he shares the same aversion to nail clipping as the others. Whenever we attempt to trim his nails, he jumps away and vocalizes his discontent with what can only be described as cat curse words. Then he proceeds to stomp away down the hall, displaying his dissatisfaction. It’s quite amusing to see how gracefully he leaps off a table with his 14+ pounds, yet his stomping is unmistakable. However, he tends to forgive us within about 10 minutes.

So, with our little group of cats, they may get angry with us at times, but they always find it in their hearts to forgive us. Perhaps, deep down, they remember who fills their food bowls.
