Not the Only Singer, but surely he is newest entry in the list and first one who is audaciously compared with Vocal Stalwarts of Bollywood like Kishore Kumar, Md Rafi, Sonu Nigam, Kumar Sanu, KK and Udit Narayan.

He is just an average singer nowhere near to these above mentioned gems. These guys had (and living ones still have) something uniquely special about them. Whatever qualitative effects Arijit can put in a song these guys can do it too. But I will tell you what these guys did marvelously which Arijit can not do atleast in this life :

    1. Kishore Kumar — Versatility and special effects like yodeling, shouting etc. Be it any mood, Kishore has a song capturing it that too brilliantly sung one. All this with zero formal training in Music. YES I REPEAT — ZERO. Arijit can only dream to be like him.
    2. Md Rafi — Most soothing of male voices so far in Hindi music. His voice can refresh someone in seconds regardless of how much he is fatigued. Plus Indian classical touch in his singing style added cherry on top of cake. Again our hero does not stand anywhere.
    3. Sonu Nigam — Sweetest voice in Hindi music so far with significant versatility. His vast knowledge of classical music and it’s application in popular music is unmatched be it Hindustani, Carnatic or western classical. Known for producing numerous qualitative musical variations within a single song. Arijit !! Beta tumse na ho payega !! Is janam me kya…Agle saat Janmo me bhi nahi.
    4. Kumar Sanu — 80% Kishore Kumar with a blend of 20% Md Rafi. He too can yodle much like Kishore and still can keep his voice soft and soothing like Rafi. He too has songs under his belt capturing almost all moods. He has ruled over hearts of Indians from all classes. Be it rich or poor, rural or urban, youngers or elders etc. Arijit has too much a narrow following when compared to Kumar Sanu.
    5. Udit Narayan — Interesting singing style. Though not as skilled as above mentioned ones but his style saw him through much further. First his style was perfectly suitable to most of the actors singing on screen. Second his unique and tickling variations in the song made him first choice for duet songs which sounded very good with female singers..especially with Alka Yadnik. I think Udit and Alka would have most hits together than any other duet couples. Arijit is still far away.
    6. KK — Singer possibly with widest vocal range in Hindi music. Though not as deft in Indian Classical base it is the intensity brought by him in his songs which makes him unparalleled. And he is smart enough to compensate this by infusing elements of western music by mixing interesting qualitative variations in a song like humms and vocal riffs. Arijit’s voice sounds as if something is stuck inside throat.. KK’s voice is the cleanest in this regard.

Give me one reason why we have to listen to him after having listened to these true stars of music for so long. I am not a pathetic hater and Arijit too has his own kitty of great songs. But I seriously get pissed off when I hear people labeling him best singer so far. Are you kidding me??

Because of Arijit Overdose, I have stopped listening to Hindi songs. But I do feel that it is not fair to blame him alone. Afterall it is Music Director who has a final say on who will give voice to his composition. They are shameful neither in making masala remakes of older hindi songs nor third class 4th grade item songs in the name of popularity nor in handing over to Arijit what is left in a composed album.
