The majority of bird species do not face this issue. Their nests are built to be sufficiently robust and well-constructed, making it difficult for an egg to be dislodged or removed except through the intervention of nest parasites like cowbirds.
However, doves are known for their poor nest-building abilities. Even a slight gust of wind can easily dislodge an egg or a newly hatched chick from their nest. In response to such incidents, the dove simply lays more eggs. Doves have the ability to repeat this process multiple times, compensating for their lack of architectural skill. As a result, despite their shortcomings in nest construction, dove populations remain plentiful.
