The immense amount of matter existing in one point when the universe was formed (calculated at 14 billion years ago) doesn’t make sense. Given this, are scientists settled that what happens otherwise in the universe does make sense?

    The immense amount of matter existing in one point when the universe was formed is a mystery that scientists have been trying to solve for centuries. The Big Bang theory is the most widely accepted explanation for the origin of the universe, but it does not explain how all of this matter came to be concentrated in a single point.

    There are a number of different theories about what happened before the Big Bang, but none of them have been proven. Some scientists believe that the universe may have been cyclical, with an infinite number of Big Bangs and Big Crunches. Others believe that the universe may have been created by a quantum fluctuation.

    Ultimately, we do not know what happened before the Big Bang. However, the fact that the universe began with an immense amount of matter in a single point does not mean that what happens otherwise in the universe does not make sense. The laws of physics may have been different before the Big Bang, or there may be other forces at work that we do not yet understand.

    Scientists are still working to learn more about the origin of the universe. As we gather more data and develop new theories, we may eventually be able to answer the question of what happened before the Big Bang.

    In the meantime, we can be content with the fact that the universe is a vast and mysterious place, and that there is still much that we do not know about it.
