Ragging: Nowadays, the form of ragging presented in the movie is much less (almost zero) due to strict rules.
Focus on Memorization: Very little. A few courses do have such a focus, but not to the extent portrayed in the movie.
Khadus professors: Not met any, but heard of a few of them.
Drinking culture: Does exist, not to that degree.
Existence of Chatur-like entities: We call them maggus.
Size of hostel rooms: Don’t get me started. I personally have the largest double room in the campus (Box rooms — the ones at the ends of a wing are the largest of the hostel, and the ones in H1/H2 are the largest of them all), but most of the other rooms are quite small. IITB doesn’t have any triple rooms (We have single, double, and a handful of quads), but the size portrayed in the movie is more or less what the proportional size of a triple room in IITB would be.
One thing the movie didn’t portray is the level of extracurricular activities available to students. Folks aren’t studying day and night. Most just study the day before the exam. There are so many other activities to do (one really has to manage their time efficiently in IIT).
