Here are the top three underutilized skills all college freshmen need:

    1. Time management: College is a lot more demanding than high school, and it can be easy to fall behind if you don’t manage your time effectively. Make a weekly schedule and stick to it as much as possible. Set aside specific times for studying, working, and socializing. Learn to say no to commitments that you don’t have time for.
    2. Organization: College can be a very overwhelming experience, so it’s important to be organized. Keep track of your assignments, due dates, and exams. Create a system for organizing your notes, papers, and other materials. Get a planner or use a digital organizing system.
    3. Self-motivation: College is a time when you’re going to have to be more self-motivated than ever before. No one is going to be there to tell you what to do or when to do it. You need to be able to set your own goals and work independently to achieve them. Find ways to stay motivated, such as setting rewards for yourself, working with a study group, or finding a mentor.

These are just a few of the skills that can help you succeed in college. By developing these skills, you’ll be well on your way to a successful college career.

Here are some additional tips for college freshmen:

    • Get involved on campus. Joining clubs, organizations, and sports teams is a great way to meet new people, make friends, and get involved in your community.
    • Take advantage of your resources. Your college has a lot of resources to help you succeed, such as academic advisors, career counselors, and tutoring centers. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
    • Take care of yourself. College can be stressful, so it’s important to take care of yourself physically and mentally. Get enough sleep, eat healthy foods, and exercise regularly. Find ways to relax and de-stress, such as listening to music, spending time in nature, or reading a good book.

College is a great time to learn and grow. By developing the skills and taking advantage of the resources available to you, you can set yourself up for success.
