So, the teaser of the much-awaited film Ponniyin Silvan 1 is finally out.

PS-”1″, so the South Indian industries have found a good pattern of releasing film in 2 parts: it is great that longer storylines are being adapted for 2 films instead of making a sequel just to milk money.

So the film series will focus on the life of Rajaraja Chola (majorly before him, especially the general Vandhiyadevan) – one of the greatest emperors in the history of India. It has been adapted from the novel Kalki – which is a highly acclaimed Tamil novel (of 5 parts) and said to be one of the best books of Tamil literature.

Note that this is a historical fiction – so don’t cry for wrong history.

The teaser looked good, not anything groundbreaking, but good. The battle scenes looked grounded, and the color palette is darker. But some further judgement can only be made when the trailer, and eventually the film comes out on 30th September.
