People have commented enough on the movie but I just have a different perspective.

Just think for a moment what if the character of Kabir Singh was Female?

The feminazis all over the country would be appreciating a badass female Medical Student, who is deeply in love with a guy, she fights for him, does everything for him and has anger issues (So what?). She asks her boyfriend to marry her but he, due to family pressure couldn’t, she even slaps him once for it. Now, she drinks day and night thinking about him and tries to find other ways to forget him, she’s hopelessly and madly in love with him.

What a brave girl and a true lover she is, and what an asshole the guy is who was not bothered about her for 8 months and married someone else with his parent’s choice, he used her etc etc.

Just change the gender and the movie is all applauded and once again the male character is to be blamed. But why?

That’s where the problem is. And the same Bollywood has given a lot of such examples. Kabir Singh is thousand times better than those fake “women empowering” movies.

The character might have flaws but movie as a whole is just a “pure love story” which is difficult to digest by people who enjoy listening “The Hookup Song” and believes in “One Night stands”.

And let me as a medical student be very clear at few places-

1. Preeti, if at any point felt uncomfortable with his behavior could have complained already. A medico is not that of a dumb head.
2. There’s a difference between harassing someone and being affectionate and caring. The “kiss” without consent or sleeping in her lap was not a torture he was doing. Preeti was mature enough to decline if she wanted. Kabir would have accepted it no matter what.
3. It’s Preeti who initiates intimacy. All that Kabir does is teach her, takes care of her, protects her and that’s it. If she was mature enough to initiate sex, she was mature enough to say “No” as well.
4. He slaps her in a scene, people objected, she slaps him a lot more than that, no one even noticed.
5. He drinks after she leaves him, it’s his way of dealing with things who’re you to judge a human by his way of living? Who said Doctors can’t drink? And did he bother her once she left? No.
6. He told the nurse clearly that he’s drunk and can’t perform the surgery but she forced him calling it to be an emergency and no doctor is available. Still, he only directed the surgery and didn’t perform.
7. The best thing about Kabir, he told the truth and accepted the 5 year ban on his career, even if he could easily get through it. That’s what an honest doctor is like.
8. He was ready to accept Preeti without knowing that the baby she’s carrying is his own. This ends everything and takes away my heart. You don’t find guys like that. Guys are insecure of their gf’s male friend let alone her husband.

Kabir had anger issues but he changes at the end of the movie, accepts his mistake and also the punishment by court. Isn’t that what a sensible and honest doctor should have done? And isn’t that life is all about? Realising your mistakes and correcting them?
