There is no such thing as a “common shark” as there are more than 400 different species of sharks in the world, each with its own unique characteristics and traits.

The great white shark, for instance, belongs to the Lamnidae family, which includes other species like mako sharks, salmon sharks, and porbeagles. These sharks are highly evolved mackerel sharks known for their large size, swift swimming abilities, and robust build. They are well-equipped to hunt marine mammals and large fish.

One distinctive feature of sharks in the Lamnidae family is their ability to regulate their body temperature, allowing them to swim in colder waters compared to other typical shark species. This adaptation sets them apart from the common perception of a “typical” shark.
