An internal citation (also known as an in-text citation) is a reference to a source within the body of the research paper. It provides brief information about the source, such as the author’s name and year of publication. An external citation (also known as a reference or bibliography entry) is a detailed citation included in the reference list or bibliography at the end of the paper.
