Eagles are carnivorous creatures that primarily hunt small to medium-sized animals such as squirrels and house cats. They employ a stealthy diving technique, gracefully descending and then abruptly altering their course at the last moment. Additionally, eagles engage in fishing and scavenging behaviors, often appearing near roadkill, prey taken down by hunters or wolves. Unfortunately, a significant cause of mortality for eagles today is lead poisoning, primarily due to irresponsible American hunters who choose to manufacture their own lead ammunition, disregarding the safer, legally mandated lead-free alternatives.

While eagles can be found across North America, they tend to favor the moderate climate of the United States over that of Canada or Mexico. In recent times, their presence has become more common, and it won’t be long before they embrace urban living, including the skyscrapers of Manhattan. Just like hawks, eagles might even develop their own devoted fan clubs and online video channels—and it’s safe to say that hawks are well aware of their popularity and thoroughly enjoy it!
