Namaste to all readers. And heartiest thanks to tik tok which exposed our culture up from hills to down in South. This amazed me a lot when i saw a person wearing lungi and performing fabulous dance on the song. He might not know the meaning of the song. Anyway I wrote same answer in hindi as well and here again I am explaining the meaning.
First of all we need to understand basic pattern of garhwali songs to enjoy it further. In this LANGUAGE ( YESSSS!!!! LANGUAGE) writer compare two different thing to match rhythm for example maari jalu maira garhwala ma baaga lagyu baaga ki wha daira mera fwa baga re : Maira means a rooster , and a rooster will be slaughter , TIGER is active in garhwal, fear is everywhere because of TIGER . before proceeding to punch line FWA BAGA RE i must explain here that “fwa” is the word which explain immense powerful long jump of TIGER. This word is related to anything which is flying.
And interesting thing that happened ahead that there is a place in Uttrakhand which was cantonment area of Indian army named Lansdowne so bassically this song is for soldiers and honorable Tiger ( BAGH). Tiger likes to live lonely life (A LONELY KING UPON HIS THRONE) it will approach human only once when it taste human blood and BAGH LAGYU means now tiger has turned man eater.
mari jalu maira ( rooster will be slaughter) garhwala ma bagh lagyu ( tiger is active in garhwal) bagh ki whai daira ( fear is there because of it) fwa baga re ( praise of its fearless long jump). Babu logo Sahab logo Hawaldar sahab captain sahab satadpatad (ryming filler) parmeshwar maharaja.
gothyari ( a cattle hide out) ko keech ( slough) pehli pehli baar gaya lansdowne ka beech ( first time visited lansdowne)
hudku podyu cha sipahiyo ka beech sachhe tibdaad podyu cha ( a deap silence is spread among soldiers, and those are realy tensed)
lakhdo koryun cha ( wood is scratched by honorable tiger’s nails) sipahiyon ka beech sachi ghabrol hayu cha ( there is nervousness among soldiers because of it only) mera fwa baga re…
