Introducing Tiger Shroff, son of veteran actor Jackie Shroff, who has been a part of the Hindi film industry for over four decades.

Introducing Ananya Pandey, daughter of Chunky Pandey, who has been associated with the Hindi film industry for over three decades.

And let’s not forget Tara Sutaria, whom I personally admired during my early teens for her portrayal of the Indian version of Ashley Tisdale on the Disney Channel’s show The Suite Life of Karan and Kabir (2012–13), and her amazing opera singing skills!

Believe me, you’re going to enjoy this movie!

Now, I’m not trying to sell you something or joking around. I’m dead serious. You will absolutely love this “masterpiece” if—

*Please note that terms and conditions apply!*

Your “love” for this movie—investing your time at the theater—is subject to market risks. Please read my breakdown of the trailer carefully.

Let’s refer to Student of the Year (2012) as the “First Film” and Student of the Year 2 (2019) as the “Second Film” for simplicity’s sake.

Now, let’s dive into the trailer!

In the First Film, St. Teresa looks like a grand palace.

In the Second Film, St. Teresa also resembles a magnificent palace.

A competition takes place in the First Film.

Guess what? A competition also happens in the Second Film.

In the First Film, the Dean passionately opens the competition with a radio jockey-like announcement.

Likewise, in the Second Film, the Dean energetically kicks off the competition, sounding like a radio jockey.

In the First Film, the overweight character gets sidelined due to his weight.

Similarly, in the Second Film, the overweight character also faces neglect because of his appearance.

A Sardarji supports the lead actors as their innocent best friend in the First Film.

Lo and behold! A Sardarji also plays the role of an innocent best friend to the lead actors in the Second Film.

In the First Film, the students are shown consuming alcohol (despite legal drinking age, huh?).

In the Second Film, there might be a scene in a pub-like setting, suggesting the possibility of students indulging in alcohol.

The characters in the First Film flaunt the Puma brand in various ways.

Guess what? The characters in the Second Film also proudly display the Puma brand.

Both films feature a slow-motion race scene.

Studs with chiseled abs are showcased in both the First and Second Films.

In the First Film, there’s a remix of the famous old song “Disco Deewane” by Nazia Hassan.

In the Second Film, a remix of the popular old song “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” by Kishore Kumar can be heard.

Accidental kisses occur between characters in both the First and Second Films.

Both films employ the overused love-triangle theory.

    Hence, it is proven:

This isn’t a sequel; it’s more like a repeat telecast with slight casting changes.

Now, let’s explore the reasons why you might love or not love this film:

① You are an ardent fan of Tiger Shroff.

You don’t mind his stoic expressions; you simply want to see him on-screen showcasing his action moves as seen in movies like Baaghi (2016) and Baaghi 2 (2018). That’s all you need!

You are head over heels in love with Tiger Shroff to the extent that you would travel 500 kilometers just to get a selfie with him.

② You haven’t watched the First Film.

If you haven’t seen the original Student of the Year,

there’s a chance you might enjoy Student of the Year 2. Maybe.

    ③ Medical reasons.

Perhaps you suffer from dementia, causing memory loss, preventing you from recalling past events.

Alternatively, if you had an accident after the release of Student of the Year and were diagnosed with retrograde amnesia, you might not remember the events related to the original film.

④ You love the extravagant lifestyle.

You enjoy watching fast cars, luxurious houses, branded outfits, and expensive items bought with lots of money. You appreciate the superbly toned bodies achieved through rigorous gym workouts and the consumption of protein shakes, all depicted in those EDM-ish Punjabi songs.

    ⑤ Name obsession.

You have become fixated on the name “Pishorilal Chamandas” of the college where Tiger Shroff’s character enrolls after being expelled from St. Teresa.

    ⑥ Skin care analysis.

You have developed a conspiracy theory that you spotted tiny acne bumps on Tiger Shroff’s forehead while he was delivering a dialogue to someone. Now, you want to verify this observation on the big screen. Additionally, you want to take pride in your disciplined skincare routine, which has bestowed upon you the most amazing, flawlessly radiant skin in the world.

⑦ You’re excited to watch Tara Sutaria.

    And that’s a valid reason, I suppose!
