As per the movie milk shouldn’t be wasted on Shivalinga.
Yes in Gita it’s written whatever you give with love God accepts that but we don’t waste milk either. You can simply just place a vessel under the Shivalinga and then distribute the milk as prasadam which is even more better as it gives moksha but this wasn’t in the movie.
I agree there are fake Babas but we need a guru . Lord Shiva, Lord Vayu and Lord Vishnu also incarnated as Sankaracharya , Madhavacharya , Ramanujanacharhya , Lord Chaitanya , etc. To reach God we need to learn from those people who are well versed in scriptures and are pure devotees.
Yes God is omnipresent but in Gita when God says I’ll accept everything you offer to whom will we offer? Air? If God is everywhere then why can’t he be in a statue ? That’s the Vigrah Avatar of God. Even Mirabai worshipped Krishna’s statue . By keeping a statue in front of us we can fix our mind in meditating on God . And really with personal experience God does hear us if we’ve selfless devotion so there’s nothing wrong in worshipping statues and images.
