Not an act really, but a style. Acid Jazz and improv jazz. I don’t know why but as I get older I like Jazz more and more. I enjoy the instrumental nature of the music with no lyrics to interrupt. You can follow the notes like a path deeper and deeper into the subconscious.
A particular act and album I had to mature to appreciate Bobby McFerrin – Circlesongs.
It’s an amazing album and nothing like the work he is most known for. There are no lyrics and no instruments. It is just McFerrin and a group of people vocalizing sounds and rhythms to produce complex and beautiful musical arrangements. I have gone through multiple copies over the years. If you are into music that is chill and unique I can’t recommend it enough.
