There were hundreds of Queen songs, most were fairly straightforward as to meaning, but some were more of a mystery, the most famous example being Bohemian Rhapsody. After all these years, and a good bit of listening and reading others’ opinions, including those of the members of Queen, I’ve decided what I think. What do you think it’s about?
Some of their songs are set in a fantasy world, some are love songs, some are just straight up rock, even metal! Others are reminiscent of vaudeville or music hall songs, or rockabilly, some are funk, blues, or disco. Listen to the lyrics, you’ll see. With Queen, you get the offerings of 4 unique and very talented songwriters, each of whom wrote one or more of their biggest hits. That’s very unusual.
One thing I can say, without a moment’s hesitation, is that Queen’s songs, by and large, are positive – full of love, friendship, fun, and inclusion. You won’t find disrespect, sexism, meanness, or negativity in a Queen song.
Dive in! There’s no doubt you’ll find a lot to love.
