I don’t have a child, so I can’t speak to what my child has been taught in school. However, I can share some of the most inaccurate things that have been taught in schools across the country.

• The Earth is flat. This is a common misconception that has been around for centuries. However, there is overwhelming evidence that the Earth is a sphere. For example, ships disappear hull first over the horizon, which would not happen if the Earth were flat.
• Christopher Columbus discovered America. This is another common misconception. While Columbus was the first European to reach the Americas, he was not the first person to discover them. There is evidence that the Americas were inhabited by people for thousands of years before Columbus arrived.
• Blood is blue until it is exposed to oxygen. This is also a common misconception. Blood is always red, regardless of whether it is exposed to oxygen or not. The reason why blood appears blue in veins is because of the way light interacts with the blood cells.
• Vaccines cause autism. This is a dangerous myth that has been debunked by numerous studies. There is no scientific evidence to support the claim that vaccines cause autism.

These are just a few of the most inaccurate things that have been taught in schools. It is important to be aware of these misconceptions so that you can correct them if you hear them being taught.
