From the original choice Twinkle Khanna for whom the character of Tina was written to finalizing on Rani Mukherjee, there were very big names associated with the film. Aishwarya was one of them but at that time she decided to reject the offer.

She revealed this fact later in an interview given to FIlm Fare stating that she was just three films old when Karan approached her for the film.

She thought that if she had done the movie she would have been tittered for doing the same that she had been doing since her modeling days like leaving her hair straight, wearing miniskirts and adding glamour. Just being a new comer she would have directly be compared with all the top heroines at that time.

Aishwarya was sure that if she had done Kuch Kuch Hota Hai she would have been lynched.
