Airlift is one of the best thiriller movies which got released in 2016. This is the one which should not be missed by filmy lovers. One should watch this heart touching movie sitting on a hot seat.

The story of this film is based on the real story of a Kuwait based Malayali businessman Mathunny Mathews.

In this film Akshay Kumar performed the role of Kuwait based businessman Ranjit Katya who rescues the Indians. His performance is very good among all, it is one of his best performances in his career.

The story is all about how he struggles to evacuate Indians based in Kuwait during the invasion of Kuwait by Saddam Hussein ruled Iraq which lead to the beginning of the Gulf War, he has acted in a very naturalistic way.

Nimrat Kaur performed a female leading role as Akshay’s spouse.

Raja Krishna Menon directed the film.

It was jointly produced by Abundantia Entertainment, Cape of Good Films, Emmay Entertainment, Hari Om Entertainment, T-series and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures with the budget of 32 crore, but it’s box-office collection was huge 231 crore.

The film was declared tax free from UP and Bihar state governments.

Airlift was banned in Kuwait for undisclosed reasons.

Akshay Kumar and Purab Kohil had learnt Arabic language for their roles.

The director Raja Krishna Menon had written the script after studying the whole incident of war as to how the Indians were struggling in Kuwait, he then asked Akshay to perform in this film.

The song ‘Soch Na Sake’ is one of the best songs of all time. It had Mirchi Music Award for Listener’s Choice Song of the Year and

Zee Cine Award for Best Background Score.

For Akshay’s best performance he was nominated for –

Stardust Award for Actor of the Year – Male.

Zeecine Award for Best Actor -Male.

Zeecine Critics Award for Best Actor.

But surprisingly he didn’t win any awards though he had acted exclusively in this film.
