Not sure how old You are or what Genre of Music your into or asking about. I like all kinds. Some people say that but I’m DEFINITELY like that.
Depending on how old You are this Guitar player might be relatively unknown to You. His name is Randy Rhoads.
To this day He’s influenced Me the most. He did two albums with Ozzy Osbourne after He was kicked out of Black Sabbath.
Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of A Madman.
They are both unbelievable but I like Diary better because it was tuned down a half step and definitely sounds darker.
A song called S.A.T.O. blew me away when I first heard it as did the Song the album was named after, Diary Of A Madman.
Randy Rhoads made classical Musical cool to Me. When I was A young teenager I’d smoke Marijuana and pretend in my own head while high as a kite that I was the one playing and the crowd was going wild.
I ended up learning the Guitar and have been playing Close to 30 years now.
I remember a time when I wasn’t quite good enough to be playing with A Drummer and lead Singer but I showed up every weekend anyway. The entire drive there while smoking Marijuana I’d have Diary of A Madman playing for motivation.
I’ve never been one of those Guitar players that’d learn other musicians solos note for note, but I learned most of Diary of A Madman except the solo note for note.
To this Day almost 25 years later most of the time I’ll warm up on the acoustic to Diary of A Madman. I love the song and its challenging and it warms me up.
I actually think Jay from White Zombie over 30 years ago is and was EXTREMELY underrated. Those two White Zombie albums to this day are two of my favorite Metal albums.
Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains is VERY underrated to in my opinion.
Not sure if any of these count as obscure since I don’t know how old You are.
I’ll say one more in case you never listened to it.
There is A Song by Buddy Holly called Crying Waiting Hoping.
An EXCELLENT Song and that Guitar Solo is honest To God one of the best solos I’ve ever heard. His name is Donald Arnone.
Not sure if you’ve ever watched the movie Drliverance. But one Guy played that entire soundtrack. His name is Ronny Cox and he’s DAMN GOOD.
