During a recent encounter, I had the opportunity to speak with a young entrepreneur who believed that his idea for a new social media platform had the potential to be worth billions. However, when I inquired about the unique features of his idea, he struggled to explain its value proposition or differentiation from existing platforms.
Instead of providing concrete evidence, he relied on buzzwords and grandiose statements about how his idea could disrupt the social media industry. When I probed further about market demand and competition, he appeared surprised and admitted that he had not conducted any research on these factors.
While I appreciated his enthusiasm and ambition, I suggested that he conduct more research and gain a better understanding of the market and competition before making lofty claims about the value of his idea.
