Indeed, cats and dogs have the potential to develop a symbiotic relationship. A friend of mine serves as a perfect example. She has a service dog and recently introduced a couple of young cats into their household. Surprisingly, they have all managed to tolerate each other quite well. One of her cats, known for its bold personality, has taken a liking to drinking from the dog’s bowl. Although the dog is not particularly fond of this behavior, it allows the cat to continue without challenging it, perhaps out of fear of getting scratched. Interestingly, the dog maintains a significant distance from the cats and avoids direct eye contact with the confident feline. It’s almost comical to witness how the dog goes to great lengths to avoid appearing confrontational.
