Recovery is an important part of muscle growth because it is during this time that your body repairs the microtears in your muscles that occur during exercise. These microtears are what allow your muscles to grow stronger and bigger.

However, too much rest can actually be counterproductive. If you don’t give your body enough time to recover, you may not be able to get the full benefits of your workouts.

The recommended amount of rest per week for muscle growth is 1-2 days. This means that you should be working out 4-6 days per week, with 1-2 days of rest in between.

On your rest days, you should still be active, but you should avoid doing any strenuous exercise. You can go for a walk, do some light stretching, or just relax.

Here are some of the benefits of resting for muscle growth:

    • Allows your muscles to repair and rebuild. As mentioned earlier, microtears in your muscles occur during exercise. These microtears are what allow your muscles to grow stronger and bigger. However, they need time to repair themselves. Resting gives your muscles the time they need to repair themselves and rebuild stronger than before.
    • Reduces your risk of injury. If you don’t give your muscles enough time to recover, you may be more likely to get injured. This is because your muscles will be weaker and more susceptible to injury.
    • Improves your performance. When you’re well-rested, you’ll be able to perform better in your workouts. This is because your muscles will be stronger and more efficient.

If you’re looking to maximize your muscle growth, it’s important to find a balance between rest and exercise. Too much of either can be counterproductive. So, make sure to give your muscles the rest they need to recover and rebuild, but don’t overdo it.
