Hello,
I would like to share my experience with you as a doctor. I was suffering from body ache, weakness, mood changes, joint pain, and muscle ache, including right-side shoulder pain and bilateral elbow pain for six months. After an MRI, I found out that I had Supraspinatus Tendinitis. However, my elbow images were normal, and I was also experiencing pain in my hands. I went for blood tests to rule out Rheumatoid Arthritis, which came out to be normal. Still being in pain and having mood changes, I decided to check my Vitamin D3 levels, and it was just 4.2 ng/ml (normal range is 30-100).
In severe deficiency, you can take a 6lac IU IM Injection once, along with a daily requirement of 1k D3 Capsule per day and a 60K weekly sachet for at least 8 weeks. You should also take calcium with it, either in the form of diet or a 500mg tablet. Then, your physician can adjust the dose by checking your levels. You can also take Vitamin D from fish (Salmon, Tuna), egg yolk, and cheese in your diet. After correcting the levels, things will surely improve, like joint pain, muscle pain, mood, and lethargy. It takes time to correct the deficiency, and it takes 2 months to improve symptoms.
Remember to have patience as deficiency won’t be corrected overnight. I am also feeling much better now. I hope this clears many doubts and myths about Vitamin D deficiency.
