Ponniyin selvan 2 is an interesting movie. It shows an entirely different trend in box office.

Usually movies start with a Big Bang and show a downward trend in the coming days in the domestic market. But ponniyin selvan is showing just the reverse.

Day 1 24 crores net

Day 2 26.2 crores

Day 3 30.3 crore

Day 4 23 crores ( sacnilk revised from 20) This will go upto 26 crore. I found the attendance is more than day 1 .

Overseas is still more puzzling

Day 1 34 crores

Day 2 16.6 crores

Day 3 20.5 crore

The overseas market is unpredictable. The increase in domestic market is due to good WOM and positive reviews. This usually happens with an erratic genius like Manirathnam. He can give a rank bad movie like Mounaragam where in he can glorify a lazy Divya and an unintelligent Chandrakumar and at the same time give a cracker like Nayagan.

What unfolds in the next two weeks will determine the final box office of Ponniyin Selvan 2.

Ponniyin selvan 2 enjoys certain advantages over 1 which faced competition from Kantara and Vikram Vedha. PS 2 s competitor Agent fell flat on day 1 . Very doubtful if it can get up and walk.

I don’t know about non Tamil movies asked in the question. But Rajini s 2.0 is in trouble. If that happens it will be a kick in the pants of Blue Chattai Maran and a fuck in the ass hole of his reviews.
