No, I was not. A few years ago, I was on the verge of developing .diabetes. My diet was filled with unhealthy choices, such as multiple coffees with excessive sugar, several 20 oz Mountain Dews during work hours, and lunch usually comprised double cheeseburgers from McDonald’s. I would consume around 12 cans of Coca-Cola before bedtime. Dinner usually consisted of processed foods high in carbs and sodium. During a physical examination for clearance to work in Kuwait, I discovered that I was pre-diabetic at the age of 34, which terrified me. I immediately stopped adding sugar to my coffee but it took me about a year to eliminate sodas entirely. In September 2015, I began intermittent fasting, only consuming complex carbs with minimal sugar. During my next annual physical exam, about six months later, my fasting blood sugar level was half of what it was during my first physical exam.
